Meet Our Audiologists

Since 1979, we have been serving the needs of the hearing impaired in Hampton Roads. Our staff of five ASHA-Certified Audiologists have over 90 years of combined experience.

Gary S. Leffke
Au.D., CCC-A

Dr. Leffke founded Virginia Audiology in 1979. He received his Doctorate from Arizona School of Health Sciences and his Master of Science in Audiology at the University of Wyoming where he achieved membership in Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Dr. Leffke has served as a past faculty member at Ithaca College, NY and Hampton University, as well as affiliate faculty at Old Dominion University and Eastern Virginia Medical School
Angela Underhill
M.S., CCC-A

Ms. Underhill joined us in 1987 after receiving her Master’s Degree in Audiology from Radford University. She is a member of the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association. Ms. Underhill is known for her very personable approach to helping her patients.


Marilyn Slaughter
M.S., CCC-A

Ms. Slaughter joined Virginia Audiology in 2004 after working at a private practice in Northern Virginia for 18 years.  She is a member of the Tidewater Audiological Society and the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.  Ms. Slaughter is known for her compassionate approach to audiology.


Jodi Ritchie
M.Ed., CCC-A -- Consultant

Mrs. Ritchie served on our staff at Virginia Audiology from 1981 – 1983 before leaving for Pensacola, Florida for her husband’s assignment to Navy Flight School. Mrs. Ritchie rejoined our staff in 1999 after working as a clinical audiologist at Riverside Hospital for 8 years. She received her Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia. Mrs. Ritchie has served as a past affiliate faculty member at Eastern Virginia Medical School and is currently a member of the Tidewater Audiology Society and the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association
